You deserve respect, inclusion, and celebration in all spaces.
This is a safe space.
We are here to provide a safer, more affordable space for folx of all backgrounds to move their bodies without fear of judgement. We create a sense of belonging through non-discrimination, body neutrality, non-triggering language, and mental health check-ins.
We have a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination in any form.
We welcome all gender identities, sexes, sexualities, bodies, races, ethnicities, native languages, religions, ages, and abilities. In order to maintain a safer community, anyone who breaks this policy will be asked to leave the class/session and risks cancellation of further classes/sessions.
We practice body neutrality.
We believe that how one’s body looks is nothing compared to the amazing things it can do. This means that we will only provide comments on how to change or improve how a body moves, not how it looks. Some folx are uncomfortable with or in their bodies, sometimes experiencing things like body dysmorphia or gender dysphoria, so we discourage any language that might draw attention to body image in general.
We use trauma-informed, non-triggering queues.
We acknowledge that folx live with different past, present, and/or current traumas that may or may not affect how they connect to their bodies. Sometimes words and tone of voice can cause unique and sometimes involuntary physical and emotional responses, so we are mindful of how we queue folx throughout each class. Instead of “push harder” or “no pain, no gain,” you will hear things like “here is a challenge if you want one” and “YASS for choosing to rest right now, listen to your body!”
We are a mental health-focused community.
We recognize that health isn’t just physical, and that folx might be living with things that we cannot see on the surface. In addition to the physical benefits that folx tend to focus on, regularly moving your body may also improve mood, self-esteem, focus, energy, sleep, and act as a form of stress relief. We always start with a physical and mental health check-in so we can tailor each class/session to meet you where you are in both body and mind.
You’re here for you, not for us. Listen to yourself first.
